Hi, I'm Ashleigh.
I've spent 15-plus years in accounting, first in public firms and then inside private companies, doing everything from month-end close to the reports that owners and executives actually make decisions from. Along the way I kept noticing the same thing: the businesses that ran well had clean books, and the ones that struggled were usually guessing.
I started Merit Bookkeeping to bring that kind of clarity to small businesses here in Lake Orion, on my own terms, as my own boss. Merit is a one-person practice by design. When you work with Merit, you work with me.

How I work
A few things you can count on.
- Your books are reconciled every month. Not "mostly." Every account, every month, to the statement.
- You'll hear from me. A monthly summary in plain English, and a quick answer when you have a question.
- Nothing is hourly. Flat monthly pricing means you never hesitate to ask.
- I work with your tax preparer, not around them. Year-end goes to them clean and ready.
- Face to face to start, remote after that. We can meet over coffee in Lake Orion for the first conversation. From then on, it's email, screen shares, and QuickBooks Online.
