Bookkeeping services in Lake Orion, MI
Three services, one goal: books that are accurate, current, and easy to understand. Nothing you don't need.
Monthly bookkeeping
The core service. Your books, kept current every month.
Once your accounts are connected to QuickBooks Online, each month looks the same: transactions get categorized, every bank, credit card, and loan account gets reconciled to the statement, and you receive your profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statement, along with a few sentences on what changed.
What's included
- Transaction categorization in QuickBooks Online
- Monthly reconciliation of bank, credit card, and loan accounts
- Profit & loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statement, with an easy-to-understand summary
- Questions answered by email, usually the same day
- Year-end package sent straight to your tax preparer
Catch-up & cleanup
For books that are behind, messy, or both.
Most new clients aren't starting from clean books. Maybe it's been six months since anything was reconciled. Maybe the QuickBooks file has duplicate accounts, uncategorized transactions, and a balance sheet that doesn't match the bank. That's normal, and it's fixable.
Cleanup is quoted as a one-time project based on how far back it goes and how many accounts are involved. Once it's done, monthly service picks up from there.
Typical cleanup work
- Reconciling months or years of unreconciled accounts
- Fixing miscategorized and duplicated transactions
- Straightening out the chart of accounts
- Getting prior years ready for a late or amended tax filing
QuickBooks Online setup
Done right from day one.
If you're starting a business, moving off spreadsheets, or switching from another tool, a proper QuickBooks Online setup saves months of cleanup later. Merit sets up the file, connects your accounts, and builds the rules so it stays tidy whether or not you continue with monthly service.
What's included
- Company file and chart of accounts tailored to your business
- Bank and credit card feeds connected
- Bank rules so recurring transactions categorize themselves
- Migration of existing data where it makes sense
- A short walkthrough so you know where to look
What Merit doesn't do.
Bookkeeping done well is a full job, so that's the job. For the rest, you'll get a referral to someone who does it well.
- Payroll. Gusto or QuickBooks Payroll handle this better than a person can, and your books will be set up to sync with either.
- Tax preparation and filing. That's a CPA or enrolled agent. Your year-end package goes to them ready to file.
- Sales tax filings. Same story. Books will track it correctly, but filing is best handled by your tax preparer.
Flat monthly pricing, no hourly surprises.
Monthly bookkeeping is a fixed fee based on the number of accounts and transactions your business has. Cleanup and setup are quoted as one-time projects. You'll have a number after the first call, and it won't change without a conversation.
